Eastwind, NY: Dog-Friendly Catskills Retreat

Welcome to Eastwind NY

If you’re like us, you love planning trips that revolve around hiking and dogs. Enter Eastwind NY! It’s a gorgeous hotel + bar located in Windham, NY, about 50 minutes south of Albany and two and a half hours north of New York City. In addition to having a variety of different style accommodations and some of the best amenities I’ve experienced, Eastwind is incredibly dog-friendly and close to so many awesome Catskills hikes. In this post you can read more about Eastwind NY, our stay, and some of the best local trails to check out when you visit!

Hotel Features / Amenities

Eastwind offers several dog-friendly options (50$ per pet per night) depending on your travel preference and party size:

  • Suite room: Suite with 2 king beds, 2 seating areas, en-suite bathroom and a private fireplace
  • Hill House double queen: Room with 2 queen beds, en-suite bathroom and great views
  • Lushna cabin: A scandinavian style cabin with a queen bed, private bathroom and fire pit area
  • Lushna suite: A private freestanding cabin with a queen bed loft, lounge space, writers nook, fridge, and en-suite bathroom. Each unit comes with a private deck, fire pit, outdoor shower and hammock.

We stayed in a Lushna cabin and it was perfect for Willow and I. I loved that we had our own private fireplace area and plenty of room to hang out outside around our room. If I was staying with more than 2 people, I’d definitely go for the Lushna suite or Suite room to have some extra indoor hangout space. All rooms come with Wifi, Frette Linen, Faribault wool blankets and access to the sauna + walking trail.

What to Eat/Drink

We actually didn’t eat out at all during our stay because Eastwind’s bar and snack options were perfect for me as a solo traveler. The first night, we ordered a s’mores kit and had a cup of mulled wine delivered right to our cabin. In the morning, we woke up with a breakfast basket, which was incredible – it came with your choice of coffee or tea, plus milk, OJ, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, greek yogurt with berries and granola, freshly baked pastries and jam. On our second night, I ordered a Paloma and a cheese board which again, was delivered right to my cabin. You can also visit the lounge on site for drinks and snacks during your stay. I just loved the convenience of being able to hang out outside with Willow and have my snacks brought up!

If you’re traveling with a larger group, or just prefer dining out, below is the list of local spots that Eastwind recommended. Keep in mind that you can’t leave dogs unattended in your room, so they either need to go with you and stay in the car, or someone needs to stay behind to watch them!

  • Windham Local
  • Le Perche
