Wildwood Collective: Dog-Friendly Stays for your Green Mountain Getaway

Ready for a dog-friendly getaway in the Green Mountains?

We sure are – and I can promise you that our friends at Wildwood Collective have the perfect place for you to stay! I was first introduced to Lauren and Chris through our mutual love of GSPs – they have three, one of whom is named Willow! It seemed like the perfect twist of fate to have our Willow go check out some of their spaces. Last year we had the opportunity to check out the Green Mountain Modern House, and this year we stayed at the new Camp Wildwood VT. Lauren and Chris are so nice and have created an amazing collective of properties (dog-friendly to boot) all across the Northeast. At last count they had 14 properties to choose from! Today I’m going to share a little bit more about our two stays and some of our favorite things to do in the Green Mountains!

Camp Wildwood Vermont - Chester, VT

Camp Wildwood Vermont is a micro tiny house village located in Chester, a super cute little town near Bromley and Stratton mountains. This Wildwood Collective property consists of two tiny homes, Thistle House and Sage House (rented separately) and a large shared space with a beautiful pond and barrel sauna.

Here are some of the amenities that come with Camp Wildwood:

  • Each tiny house sleeps a total of 2 guests with a sleeping loft & queen sized bed
  • Living area with comfy leather couch and great lighting
  • Full kitchen with electric stove, French press and sink
  • Full bathroom with toilet and tiled shower
  • Hangout loft with TV and Nintendo mini (maybe my favorite part!)
  • Private fire-pit area with picnic table and Adirondack chairs

There is also a really cool shared space, which features a barrel sauna and a gorgeous pond where you can relax and swim! Willow absolutely loved the pond and it was such a nice feature. Everything about this place just felt so peaceful and secluded!

Some other nice to know details:

  • The property is set back off the road and separated by a large field, so I felt very comfortable having Willow off leash the whole weekend. We did have the entire camp to ourselves, so if other guests are there, you need to be respectful of the shared spaces!
  • There is a pet fee of 75$ per pet (max of 2) and dogs are not allowed in the loft spaces, so keep that in mind when traveling (we brought Willow’s bed from home so she slept downstairs)

Green Mountain Modern House - Jamaica, VT

The Green Mountain Modern House is a super fun and unique property located in Jamaica, Vermont in the heart of the green mountains. It’s located off a quiet road and has access to the Ball Mountain Brook just across the street. If you enjoy skiing, this Wildwood Collective stay is a great choice! It’s only 10 minutes from Stratton Mountain and close to several other great ski destinations.

On top of the great location, here are some of the amenities you can find there:

  • Sleeps up to 6 guests (3 bedrooms) so it’s great for a larger party
  • Has two full bathrooms, one with a sauna and one with a jacuzzi tub
  • Large open living floorpan with a modern and fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area
  • High speed WiFi making it a perfect place to work remotely
  • Front deck and back fire pit area with Adirondack chair seating
  • Wood stove for chilly nights

Some other nice to know details:

  • The property is located off a pretty quiet road and has a good amount of green space for hanging out. We mostly stayed on a long-line while there but also played frisbee and spent some time off leash!
  • There is a pet fee of 75$ per pet (max of 2)

Where to Hike/Adventure

The Green Mountains are a hiking and skiing paradise! No matter what season you’re visiting in, there is no shortage of activities to take advantage of. If your planning to bring your pup along on the adventure, here are my go-to tips and gear for day hiking with dogs.

These are a few of the best places to check out for hiking and skiing near both of these properties:

Hikes

  • Lowell Lake – 3.1 mile loop in Londonderry, VT that’s very easy and provides beautiful lake views pretty much the whole hike – very popular, but was quiet when I went early on a week day
  • Buttermilk Falls – super short hike (less than half mile) to a beautiful waterfall in Okemo State Forest
  • Mount Ephraim – 2.4 mile moderate and quiet trail near Springfield, VT with great views
  • Hamilton Falls Trail – 5.8 mile moderate hike with a waterfall and great overlook views

Ski areas

  • Stratton Mountain – my fave ski area and village – highest peak in Southern VT that also has some great hiking
  • Bromley Mountain – has a lot to do in all seasons, including a summer adventure park
  • Mount Snow
  • Magic Mountain
  • Okemo

Where to Eat

  • SoLo Farm & Table – farm to table cuisine – Londonderry, VT
  • Johnny Seesaw’s – fresh fare with local ingredients – great atmosphere – Peru, VT
  • The Pizza Stone – really good and unique pizzas (we love this place) – Chester, VT
  • Verde – more upscale with excellent cocktail selection – Stratton Mountain Village, VT
  • Southern Pie Cafe – breakfast, coffee, pie – what’s not to love – Chester, VT
  • Outer Limits Brewing – wood fired pizza and local beer – Cavendish, VT

I hope this helps you plan your next adventure to the southern green mountains! You can follow along with more of our adventures on instagram!
